Shangri-La and Separation were sung by Angela (which is a group consisting of the singer, atsuko, and the guitarist, KATSU). They're such great songs. :3

(More music input later. Time for dinner now.)
You know which composer I think is underappreciated? Iwasaki Taku. He wrote the music for Get Backers, the Rurouni Kenshin OVAs, Read or Die, and Witch Hunter Robin (amongst others). The music ranged from action-packed to melodic to heartbreakingly poignant, and it definitely set the mood in just the right way a lot of the time. He doesn't have the notoriety that Kanno and Kajiura (two wonderful composers, I agree) do, but he's perhaps my favorite anime composer.
Mm, I LOVE Yoko Kanno. Her music for Bebop was pure genius. I used to have all the old music, but when I "lent" my old computer to my aunt, I never got a chance to finish transferring it all over...*sigh* now I'll have to find it all again. Favorites were "Flying Teapot" and "Odd Ones." I also love The Seatbelts and Mai Yamane (her voice is great, especially in "See You, Space Cowboy," "The Real Folk Blues" and another song she did for Bebop that I can't remember...oh, "Want It All Back."

I also like Maaya Sakamoto a lot, especially her Lucy album. My favorite songs of hers are "Danielle" (from Nikopachi), "Arukaroido" and "Mameshiba," but I also really love "The Garden of Everything" that she did with Steve Conte. (I'm a fan of Steve Conte too, by the way). For her anime songs, I really like "Gravity" for Wolf's Rain. My favorite Steve Conte song is "Living Inside the Shell" for Ghost In The Shell, but I like "No Reply" and "Believe Me, Camille" too.

I also LOVE the music from Kare Kano ("Tenshi no Yubikiri", as well as "Souichirou Arima" -- all the versions -- and "We Meet Only To Part") and Big O, especially "And Forever" and "Brick Ballads."

And of course I love "Motherland" by Crystal Kay (and almost EVERYTHING ELSE Crystal Kay makes) and "Every Heart" by BoA (especially the mangled English). And who the heck does the theme song for Love Hina? I like that!

But my favorite j-pop artist of all time -- I mean, really, this is going to be so stereotypical as she's probably the most well-known J-pop singer outside Japan, but I LOVE Hikaru Utada. She's awesome. I was first introduced to her by "Simple and Clean"/"Hikari" for Kingdom Hearts (favorite video game EVAR), and I adore "Sanctuary"/"Passion" for Kingdom Hearts II as well as ALMOST EVERYTHING ELSE SHE'S EVER MADE. ("Automatic" and "Keep Tryin'" being personal favorites.) Oddly enough, one of the few true 'anime music' songs she did ("Dareka no Negai ga Kanau Koro" for Casshern) took a really long time to grow on me.

Wow, I sound like a rabid fangirl :D

'Nuff said, really.
There are so many great singers it's so hard to choose, but Hikki will always have a special place in my heart. Got a whole slew of singles recently from the recycle shop for $.50, like travelling and sakura drops. SO good. *_*

The music to the anime: Melody of Oblivion is really well composed...
The anime itself sucks, but the soundtrack is great.
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

The original Ghost in the Shell movie soundtrack has some really awesome compositions great for meditating.
GITS Stand Alone Complex also has a really good soundtrack. Monochrome, Stamina Rose, Inner Universe, and Rise.
For Full Metal Alchemist you gotta check out the 2nd opening and closing: Ready, Steady, Go! and Yellow Generation.

I've been watching Bleach all the way through (finally caught up to the current episodes) and have really taken a liking to Makino Yui and her music. Her song "Life" is amazing ^__^

Also you gotta love the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya opening and the dance number at the end. That show is just full of crazyrandomawesomeness.

Anime Expo 2007: did anyone see this?

was so much fun, I need to make some money and fly all of you out for AX again.
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

Sorry if this sounds rude but can you cut out the 1 line posts and shorten your sig?
If you're going to post please put some thought into it so it stimulates others to make conversation.
I find it quite ironic that you post so little and yet have such a long winded signature.
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

Ayumi Hamasaki is queen!
Life is like an orange, it is small, round and has a few pips in it... Oh, and some have half of one for breakfast.
I'll try to look it up when I have more time.

I have a pretty large library of SM music... there are CDs whose primary focus are TV music and sound bites so perhaps it's on one of those.
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.
